Sydney Underground Film Festival – 2013 Lineup

SUFF_2013_keyart-200x300On Wednesday evening Sydney Underground Film Festival announced the 2013 lineup for the 7th annual event. At Graffiti With Punctuation we are very excited about this year’s selection, which features a variety of subversive underground hits which have already drawn International attention. We are all spoilt for choice.
The festival is set to take place September 5-8 at the Factory Theatre, Marrickville. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at
Opening the festival, and accompanied by pizza & drinks is ‘The Dance of Reality’, directed by the legendary Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, The Holy Miuntain). It his first feature film in over two decades, fresh from it’s rousing world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The closing night film is ‘The Canyons’, directed by Paul Schrader, written by Bret Easton Ellis and featuring a comeback by Lindsay Lohan that has been drawing a lot of recent attention.
Other highlights we are looking forward to include ‘Magic Magic’, which stars Juno Temple, Michael Cera and Emily Browning and is directed by Sebastian Silva and ‘The Lords of Salem’, the latest from death metal rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects’), as well as ‘John Dies At The End’, ‘The Perverts Guide to Ideology’, ‘Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction’ and ‘The Final Member’. Further info on these sessions can be found at the SUFF website listed above, but these are just a few that have immediately interested me.
Injecting some fun into this year’s program will be the inaugural Best Worst Films Bingo! sessions, featuring a line up that boasts ‘Troll 2′, ‘Birdemic 2: The Resurrection’ and a special 10thanniversary screening of Tommy Wiseau’s ‘The Room’ along with bingo games for the audience.

Given the opportunity, I would gladly immerse myself in this weird but wonderful weekend. Check back to Graffiti With Punctuation for further coverage in the lead up to SUFF 2013.
