A new Australian trailer for ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ has appeared online.
It contains lot of new footage of Spiderman web-slinging and Peter Parker being a smart-arse.
The Spiderman reboot is stuck in a strange middle ground between trying to be gritty and real
while still retaining the comic book gloss. It has also got tough competition from two films that live
comfortably each world separately – ‘Dark Knight Rises’ is the grit and ‘The Avengers’ is the gloss.
‘The Amazing Spiderman’ can’t go too dark because it does have a villain that transforms from a man
into a lizard whose testicles conveniently tuck into his body (goodbye father’s day).
The film looks fun and it’s obvious that director Mark Webb isn’t trying to dupe people with cash in
reboot so soon after the Sam Raimi series. The presence of characters like Gwen Stacey, the non-
organic web-shooters and the mystery of Parker’s parents are hints at a new Spiderman universe to
explore and get lost in.
The Amazing Spiderman is released in Australia on the 4th of July, and in the U.S.A and U.K on the 3rd of July
